Loural Ecovillage is a sustainable community and retreat centre in Colmeal, Góis, Portugal, working towards food and energy self-sufficiency. Loural Ecovillage is an intentional community and retreat centre in the village of Aldeia Velha, Colmeal, in the municipality of Góis in central Portugal. It runs a school of integrative medicine and therapy with structured training programmes, and it hosts immersive retreats for people looking for personal growth, healing and connection with nature. The retreats take several forms, from semi-silent retreats that combine nature, the cosmos and self-inquiry to movement-based and body-awareness workshops.
The community is working towards food and energy self-sufficiency. It applies permaculture principles to the way it manages the land and to its daily practices. It brings together people committed to sustainable and regenerative ways of living, and its work draws on ecology, permaculture, collective intelligence, the arts, alternative pedagogies, and training in integrative medicine and therapies.
WWOOFers and volunteers who want to contribute to the land and to community life are welcome. The ecovillage is guided by the idea of “Relier”, to connect, which for Loural means linking people, nature and sustainable practices. Participants and visitors come from across Europe and beyond, drawn by the natural surroundings, the community and the programme of personal and collective development activities.
Loural operates as a registered tourism establishment. It is registered as Loural Ecovillage Portugal, Lda, and holds more than one tourist establishment registration.
Our Goal
Loural Ecovillage wants to build a sustainable community in central Portugal that brings together ecology, permaculture, collective intelligence, the arts, alternative pedagogies, and training in integrative medicine and therapies.
Our Wishes
Loural Ecovillage takes volunteers through WWOOFing. It also invites people looking for a retreat, for training in integrative therapies or for community living to join the growing project.
