Quinta Alma

Quinta Alma is a magical ecological retreat farm located in Sítio do Trancão, near Aljezur, on Portugal's southwest Atlantic coast. Opened in May 2017, it sits hidden in the mountains of Monchique, operating entirely off the grid while remaining close to world-class surf beaches such as Praia da Arrifana. Designed under the principles of permaculture, Quinta Alma serves both environmental and human regeneration, creating a space where guests can unplug and reconnect with themselves and with nature. The project offers three distinct types of experience: Bonding & Learning, for those seeking community living and hands-on learning; Healing & Developing, for individuals participating in group retreats or organisations wishing to host their own retreats; and Accommodation & Relaxation, for guests looking for an inspiring and restorative holiday. Accommodation options range from intimate nature-integrated lodgings, and meals are prepared using a nature-to-table philosophy with breakfasts included and communal outdoor kitchen access. Quinta Alma also hosts Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs) in partnership with facilitators such as Silvia Floresta, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability education. The farm is a brand of Almas Unidas, Lda., and is closely linked to the non-profit Alma com Alma Agroecology Laboratory, which extends the project's social and ecological mission beyond hospitality. Together, these initiatives aim to build resilient, nature-connected communities and support regenerative land stewardship on Portugal's Algarve coast.
