Quinta do Arneiro

Quinta do Arneiro is a family-run organic farm located in Azueira, in the municipality of Mafra, in Portugal's Oeste region — an area with a long tradition of agriculture. The estate has been in the family since 1967, when it was acquired and initially devoted to growing Rocha pear orchards across its 30 hectares. In 2007, the farm entered a new chapter, certifying its first hectare of vegetables under organic farming standards, and by 2009 it had become a fully-fledged organic producer. Operating under the motto 'Biológico com Amor' (Organic with Love), Quinta do Arneiro grows a broad range of seasonal vegetables and fruit without the use of agrochemicals or pesticides. Fresh produce is harvested and delivered directly to customers' homes in weekly baskets — either as curated 'type baskets' or fully personalised orders through their online store. The farm prioritises sourcing: first from their own fields, then from neighbouring farms, then from elsewhere in Portugal, and finally from abroad — all certified organic. Beyond home delivery, Quinta do Arneiro has a physical presence through its on-site grocery store (open Wednesday to Sunday), a farm restaurant serving dishes made with their own produce, and participation in weekend farmers' markets in Lisbon, Parque das Nações, and Cascais. The farm also runs an Academy offering workshops and educational activities related to organic farming and sustainable living. With over 51,000 followers on Facebook and a strong community engagement, Quinta do Arneiro has become a reference project for organic agriculture and local food systems in the greater Lisbon area, combining food production, direct sales, gastronomy, and community education under one roof.
