Quinta do Arneiro
A certified organic farm in Azueira, Mafra, producing a wide variety of vegetables, fruit and bread, delivered weekly in baskets directly to homes across the region. The farm also has an on-site grocery store, a restaurant and an academy.
Quinta do Arneiro grows a broad range of seasonal vegetables and fruit without agrochemicals or pesticides, and delivers them to customers' homes in weekly baskets. It's a family-run organic farm in Azueira, in the municipality of Mafra, in the Oeste, an area with a long tradition of agriculture.
The family acquired the estate in 1967 and at first planted its 30 hectares with Rocha pear orchards. In 2007 they certified their first hectare of vegetables under organic farming standards. By 2009 the farm was a fully-fledged organic producer.
The farm's motto is “Biológico com Amor” (Organic with Love). Produce is harvested fresh for the baskets, and customers can take a ready-made “type basket” or put together a fully personalised order through the online store. For anything it sells, the farm looks first to its own fields, then to neighbouring farms, then to elsewhere in Portugal, and finally abroad. All of it is certified organic.
There's a grocery store on the farm, open Wednesday to Sunday, and a farm restaurant that cooks with the farm's own produce. At weekends Quinta do Arneiro also sells at farmers' markets in Lisbon, Parque das Nações and Cascais. Its Academy runs workshops and educational activities on organic farming and sustainable living. The farm has over 51,000 followers on Facebook.
Our Goal
To produce certified organic fruit and vegetables on a family farm in Mafra and deliver them directly to consumers, so that more people can get fresh, local, organic food.
