Quinta do Sampayo

Quinta do Sampayo is a historic wine estate located in Vale da Pinta, Cartaxo, in the heart of the Tejo wine region, less than an hour from Lisbon. With more than 300 years of history and over 90 hectares of land, the estate produces conscious wines and organic olive oils through minimal-intervention winemaking that lets the terroir express itself with precision and honesty. Owned by Grupo Agroseber, the project is currently led by Ana Filipa Macedo, who took over management to honour the legacy of her father, transforming Quinta do Sampayo into a life project centred on sustainability. The estate has been investing in more environmentally responsible practices, from regenerative agricultural techniques that restore soil health to the adoption of lighter glass bottles that reduce the carbon footprint of production. Beyond wine and olive oil, Quinta do Sampayo offers wine tourism experiences designed to connect visitors with the land, the winery and the people behind the products — including tastings, estate visits and gastronomic experiences paired with wine ('Na Adega com o Chef'). The winery itself, built in the second half of the 1990s, respects and values the traditional winemaking process while supporting the estate's broader sustainability goals. A daily 'orchestra' of people works the land together, aiming to create wines and olive oils full of flavour, sensation and quality, while building lasting connections with visitors and the surrounding Ribatejo community.
