Quinta dos Medronheiros is a certified organic farm located in Lazarim, in the municipality of Almada, Portugal. Certified by Certiplanet (PT-BIO-04) under the guidance of producer José J. Encarnação, the farm grows a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, including oranges, and also produces eggs, all following certified organic farming practices free from synthetic chemicals. The farm's main offering is its 'cabazes bio' — 100% organic produce boxes delivered regularly to customers, allowing them to enjoy fresh, seasonal, and locally grown food while supporting sustainable agriculture. Through its social media presence, the farm actively engages its community, sharing information about the nutritional and health benefits of its crops, such as broccoli, lettuce, cabbage and citrus, and encouraging followers to share favourite recipes and product preferences. This engagement reflects a mission that goes beyond simply producing organic food: it aims to educate consumers about the value of biological agriculture and reconnect them with the origins of what they eat. The project is run under the guidance of General Manager José Encarnação, who oversees farm operations and organic certification compliance. While primarily known today for its organic vegetable and fruit production and produce box subscription model, the estate has also historically been associated with rural properties and rental accommodation in the region, though its current active identity centres on certified organic farming and community-supported food distribution. Quinta dos Medronheiros represents a small-scale, locally rooted example of sustainable food production in the Lisbon metropolitan area, combining organic certification, direct-to-consumer distribution, and community education around seasonal, healthy eating.
