The Landscape Farm
A 16-hectare organic farm in Ribatejo that produces more than 50 products, from olive oil and honey to wild herbs and vegetables, following what it calls “landscape agriculture”.
On 16 hectares of mixed terrain in the heart of the Ribatejo region, The Landscape Farm grows more than 50 products, including olive oil, honey, legumes, vegetables and fruit. All of it is organic, and most of it is grown by hand. The land lies in the *Bairro*, an area of rolling hills and clay-limestone soils.
The farm has been running for nearly 20 years. It draws on local farming tradition and has developed an organic, landscape-based way of farming that respects the distinct character of each part of the property. Wild oregano grows on the south-facing slopes, and blackberries grow in the fresh hedgerows and ditches. Vegetables are grown on the flat valley ground, olive trees cover the gentle slopes, and native scrub survives on the steeper hillsides facing north. These micro-terroirs are what allow the farm to produce such a wide range.
The farm also practises natural beekeeping, which supports pollinators and adds to biodiversity.
*Escola do Campo* (Farm School) teaches sustainable rural life by learning through doing. *Barrão por um dia* is a guided visit to the farm. Its products are sold directly through an online shop.
The farm has been recognised in the media and by industry awards for its environmental practices and the quality of its olive oil. Chefs and food writers have highlighted its produce and its recipes built around the local territory.
Our Goal
To look after the landscape through organic, low-intervention farming that values each *terroir* on the property, from wild oregano and hedgerow blackberries to the olive groves and natural beekeeping, producing a varied range of artisanal organic products while preserving the traditional Ribatejo countryside.
