The Landscape Farm is a 16-hectare organic farm in the Ribatejo region of Portugal producing over 50 types of products — from olive oil and honey to wild herbs and vegetables — rooted in a philosophy of 'landscape agriculture'.

Located in the heart of the Ribatejo region, in an area of rolling hills and clay-limestone soils known as 'Bairro', The Landscape Farm spans 16 hectares of diverse terrain. For nearly 20 years, the project has been rooted in tradition and a deep love for the land, evolving into a model of organic, landscape-based agriculture that respects the distinct character of each part of the property. Wild oregano grows on south-facing slopes, blackberries thrive in fresh hedgerows and ditches, vegetables are cultivated in the flat valley zones, olive trees cover the gentle slopes, and native scrub survives on the steeper, north-facing hillsides. This variety of micro-terroirs allows the farm to produce more than 50 different products, including olive oil, honey, legumes, vegetables and fruit, all grown organically and largely by hand. Natural beekeeping is practiced as an innovative complement to the farm's ecosystem, supporting pollinators and enriching biodiversity. The farm also runs 'Escola do Campo' (Farm School), an educational initiative for learning-by-doing about sustainable rural life, and welcomes visitors through 'Barrão por um dia', a guided farm-visit experience. Its products are sold directly through an online shop, and the farm has been recognised in the media and by industry awards for its environmental practices and quality olive oil. Chefs and food writers have highlighted its territory-driven recipes and produce. The Landscape Farm stands as an example of how traditional Portuguese farmland can be regenerated and diversified through careful, landscape-sensitive organic farming.

Our Goal

To care for the landscape through organic, low-intervention agriculture that values each 'terroir' of the property — from wild oregano and hedgerow blackberries to olive groves and natural beekeeping — producing diverse, artisanal bio products while preserving the traditional Ribatejo countryside.

Our Wishes

The farm welcomes visitors, students and partners interested in learning about landscape-based organic farming and traditional rural practices through its farm school and guided visit programmes.
