Traditional Dream Factory (TDF)

Traditional Dream Factory is transforming a former poultry factory in Portugal's Alentejo into a regenerative village combining co-living, syntropic agroforestry, and ecological restoration. The project uses an innovative blockchain-based token system to turn guests into co-stewards of the shared land.
Traditional Dream Factory (TDF) is a pioneering regenerative village located in Abela, Alentejo, Portugal, established in 2021 on the grounds of a 25-hectare former poultry processing factory built in 1972. The project challenges conventional models of land ownership by embracing shared stewardship, intentional community building, and radical transparency.
At the core of TDF's governance model is the $TDF token — a blockchain-powered digital access right that transforms visitors into co-stewards. Each token grants one night of accommodation per year and carries voting power over development decisions. With over 280 token holders and more than €1.25 million in capital raised, the project is governed through a Swiss-registered OASA Association, one of the few European legal structures with formal recognition for decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs). Citizens holding 30 or more tokens gain enhanced governance rights, priority booking, and extended stay privileges.
Ecologically, TDF integrates syntropic agroforestry systems featuring 65+ tree species alongside vegetables and cover crops, forming a food forest that nourishes the community while regenerating the soil. Fifty percent of the land is preserved as wild habitat, supporting over 40 bird species, and the project has undertaken carbon-validated reforestation. A mushroom farm supplies three local restaurants and produces medicinal products.
Current infrastructure includes 14 glamping units, volunteer accommodations, and a nearly complete natural swimming pool. The 2026 build-out phase will add 12 en-suite co-living rooms, artist studios, a 30-seat farm-to-table restaurant, and expanded wellness facilities including a sauna and yoga space. Looking further ahead, a co-housing development of 23 homes across diverse typologies is planned for permanent residents.
TDF attracts land stewards, healers, creatives, systems thinkers, remote workers, and families seeking meaningful community. The best entry point is a two-week volunteer stay, allowing newcomers to experience the land, meet the community, and explore long-term participation pathways.
Our Goal
Traditional Dream Factory aims to build a regenerative village in Portugal's Alentejo where land is held in common, governance is participatory, and human communities actively enhance rather than deplete ecosystems.
Our Wishes
TDF welcomes volunteers, token holders, future co-housing residents, investors, and anyone seeking authentic community connection who wants to contribute to or co-steward a living regenerative village.
