Gaia Forest Retreat & Eco Hostel is located in beautiful northern Portugal, just 1 km from the ancient Camino de Santiago route, near Rubiães and Paredes de Coura. The retreat offers guests the space to disconnect from daily stressors and reconnect with nature and themselves, staying in one of two charming wooden cabins nestled in an oak forest with views of the surrounding hills. The property spans 1 hectare of oak and cork oak forest, with walking paths winding through terraces that showcase the diversity of local flora and fauna. Guests come for many reasons: a getaway from city life, a rest stop along the Camino de Santiago, a creative retreat to find calm and inspiration, recovery from stress or burnout, or a safe space during difficult life transitions. The retreat is run by a small family team who cultivate their own food, offering fresh, homemade vegetarian meals prepared with ingredients grown on-site. Guests consistently highlight the warmth and hospitality of the hosts, the healing power of the natural surroundings, and creative offerings such as painting prompts, oracle card readings, and aromatherapy massage. The retreat also grows regenerative agriculture practices and maintains a food forest, reflecting a deep commitment to living in harmony with the land. Beyond accommodation, Gaia Retreat fosters community through local markets and collaborations with other regional artists and practitioners, and offers a place for solo travelers, couples, and small groups seeking genuine reconnection with nature and self.
