NOMEDA

NOMEDA was born from the passion of a winemaker-biologist who chose the Douro Superior to craft wines of excellence, uniting tradition, sustainability and territorial identity. Based at Quinta de Vale Pereiro, in the sparsely populated village of Vale Pereiro (Longroiva, Mêda), the project sits amid schist valleys and granite hills that define a unique terroir. The region's dry climate, altitude and low rainfall naturally reduce pest and disease pressure, favoring agroecological viticulture. NOMEDA produces limited-edition, monovarietal wines with minimal intervention, including a Rabigato Reserva White 2023 (only 2,300 bottles) and a Touriga Nacional Reserva red, sourced partly from small local growers such as Dona Hortência and Sr. Amílcar, with whom NOMEDA maintains close, fair-price relationships that strengthen the local economy and preserve traditions. At Quinta de Vale Pereiro, an abandoned vineyard has been recovered as a platform for regenerative viticulture, applying biological pest control, cover cropping, no-till soil management and zero chemical intervention. Beyond the vineyard, the estate also cultivates olive and almond groves under regenerative agriculture principles, promoting soil health and ecological balance across the whole property. The project's wines have already earned recognition, including a 'highly recommended' rating from Revista de Vinhos and praise in Aníbal Coutinho's Guia Copo & Alma 2026. NOMEDA is created by winemaker and producer Ana Trigo, who insists that sustainability is not a trend but a responsibility, expressed in every bottle from vine to glass.
