O Rapaz da Quinta

O Rapaz da Quinta is a certified organic farm (PT-BIO-08) based in Leça do Balio, founded by Tiago Ferreira, a former Physical Education graduate who returned to his family's agricultural roots. Rejecting conventional, chemically-intensive farming, Tiago chose organic production as a way to respect natural resources and future generations. Since 2017, the project has grown a wide variety of seasonal produce, including vegetables, fruit, aromatic herbs, mushrooms, eggs and artisanal bread, always following the rhythms of the seasons. The farm's core offering is its 'cabazes' (baskets) of organic produce, available in several pre-made sizes or fully customisable according to customer preference. Home deliveries are made weekly across a wide area including Espinho, Vila Nova de Gaia, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde, Alfena, Ermesinde, Maia, Matosinhos and Porto, each with dedicated delivery time slots. Beyond deliveries, O Rapaz da Quinta maintains a strong presence at weekly markets in Maia and Vila do Conde every Saturday morning, valuing direct contact with customers and fellow small producers who share similar values. Visitors are warmly welcomed to the farm itself, where they can see how their food grows and even pick their own vegetables. Tiago is supported by family and friends who help with the physical work of the land, and he holds a particular fascination for beekeeping and seed preservation, reflecting a broader commitment to biodiversity and sustainable food systems in the region.
