PREC - Processo Regenerativo em Curso

PREC is a food hub, canteen, café and grocery store in Mértola run by the Terra Sintrópica Association, offering vegetarian, plant-based meals made with local, organic and regenerative produce. It connects local producers and consumers through food, events, and community gatherings.
PREC – Processo Regenerativo em Curso is a multifunctional space in Mértola, Alentejo, combining a canteen, café and grocery store around the theme of regenerative food. Born in April 2020 as a project of the Terra Sintrópica Association, PREC is described as the 'edible heart' of the regenerative process underway in the region, uniting agroecological practices with a creative, conscious kitchen.
The space serves vegetarian and plant-based meals, daily menus, juices, cakes and alternative breakfasts made with fresh ingredients, often gluten-free or free of refined sugar, using vegetables from Horta da Malhadinha and other partner producers. Beyond meals, PREC sells baskets of fresh regenerative produce, organic coffee, natural cosmetics, olive oil, wine, honey, jams, handicrafts and books, including works on syntropic agriculture.
PREC also functions as a community hub, hosting events, workshops, film screenings, concerts, and gatherings such as the 'Encontros Inesperados Pela Regeneração' discussion series and documentary showings on agroecology. It offers a discount to Mértola residents and runs a WhatsApp community to share daily menus and news.
Rooted in the values of food sovereignty, local production, and responsible consumption, PREC positions itself as a small but meaningful step towards a more regenerative and community-oriented food system in the Alentejo region, connecting the land ('a horta') directly to the plate.
Our Goal
PREC aims to promote healthy, fair and regenerative eating in Mértola by transforming local, regenerative produce into unique meals and products, while strengthening food sovereignty and short supply chains.
Our Wishes
PREC is looking for a kitchen team member (flexible part-time) to help with food preparation, organisation and service, and welcomes people who want to join its community and support local, regenerative agriculture.
