Regenerativa Cooperativa Integral

Regenerativa Cooperativa Integral is a community-based cooperative founded in 2022 and headquartered at Espaço Nativa in the village of São Luís, in the municipality of Odemira, Portugal. It was created to regenerate the economic, ecological, social and cultural fabric of a rural territory, functioning as a learning community that organizes itself cooperatively to build concrete solutions for those who live and work locally. Rather than operating as a single project, Regenerativa acts as a shared structure that unites diverse initiatives and people under one cooperative umbrella, offering administrative and fiscal support, shared resources, and a mutually reinforcing community. The cooperative structures its work across eight branches of action: primary consumption, education, commercialization, social solidarity, construction and housing, services, agriculture, and culture. Activities range from running a café, grocery store (Mercearia) and events space, to community gardening (the 'agroginásio' and cooperative vegetable garden), agroecological transition projects, food sovereignty initiatives, and cultural events celebrating local traditions such as cante alentejano. The cooperative also participates in wider territorial food systems work, including local sampling and school meal quality initiatives in the Odemira municipality. Governed through cooperative bodies including a Conselho de Administração, Mesa da Assembleia Geral and Conselho Fiscal, Regenerativa relies on active cooperantes, collaborators, friends of the cooperative and volunteers to sustain its Café, Mercearia and events. Its mission is rooted in solidarity economy principles, mutual support, and strengthening what is local — positioning São Luís as a living laboratory for rural regeneration and cooperation.
