Terra de Paz

Terra de Paz is a community-building initiative creating a new model of rural village in Portugal for 20–40 families, rooted in ecological farming, educational freedom, co-working, and community resilience. Currently in its founding stage, it is actively seeking families, investors, and municipal partners.
Terra de Paz is a forward-thinking rural community project being developed in Portugal's central region, conceived as a small, modern village for 20 to 40 families who value independence, connection, and resilience. Founded by childhood friends and Lisbon-based entrepreneurs Ophir and Tomer — with backgrounds spanning international real estate, social innovation, art, education, and community projects across Israel, Germany, Portugal, and Japan — the project responds both to families seeking a meaningful alternative to urban or isolated living, and to rural Portuguese municipalities losing population and vitality.
The envisioned community is designed as a complete ecosystem. Its educational pillar draws from Waldorf and Montessori philosophies, emphasising outdoor learning, creativity, and cultural integration with the Portuguese language. The food and farming dimension includes private family garden plots, shared seasonal agricultural land, and pathways for sustainable food micro-enterprises. A fibre-connected co-working hub, private studios, and an innovation-friendly atmosphere support remote workers and entrepreneurs.
Community and culture are central: a member-led community centre, annual festivals, shared meals, and artistic gatherings will form the social fabric, with a deliberate commitment that 20% of residents be Portuguese-born to ensure authentic local integration. Wellbeing infrastructure — a pool, movement studio, meditation space, and holistic mental health support — is also planned.
On the sustainability front, Terra de Paz will incorporate rainwater harvesting for irrigation and emergency use, private and shared solar energy with battery backup, and dual access to public utilities for resilience and flexibility.
The project is currently in its founding circle stage, meeting with municipalities and landowners, consulting expert advisors, and gathering potential founding families and aligned investors. Terra de Paz positions itself not merely as a development project but as a movement toward regenerative rural living in Portugal.
Our Goal
To establish a new model of rural village in Portugal's central region for 20 to 40 families, combining ecological farming, educational freedom, remote work, community culture, and resilient infrastructure to regenerate a depopulating rural area.
Our Wishes
Terra de Paz is looking for municipal partners open to regenerating their region, investors aligned with impact and rural innovation, and families interested in joining the founding core group.
