Vivid Farms

Vivid Farms grows seasonal vegetables and raises animals in Casével, near Santarém and Golegã, using regenerative methods that are certified organic. It was founded by Paulo Carvalho, who also created Vivid Foods. A small team of between two and 10 people runs it as a hands-on farm business that combines ecological principles with food production. The produce is grown in living soil without synthetic inputs. The farm's mission is to promote a conscious food system that works with nature and builds up soils rich in nutrients and flavour, rather than depleting them the way conventional farming does. Long-term ecosystem health comes before short-term yield. Vivid Farms sees itself as part of a wider movement seeking systemic change in how Portugal produces food. It emphasises the links between soil health, biodiversity and community wellbeing. Education and knowledge exchange within farming are part of the work: the farm has partnered with academic institutions, among them the Instituto Politécnico de Santarém (ESASantarém), hosting students for extended periods of learning about regenerative practice. The farm wants to inspire other farmers, and the people who buy food, to rethink how it is grown and consumed. Further ahead, it hopes to help build a more resilient, regenerative food system in Portugal, with health, flavour and community cultivated together.
