Terramay is a 560-hectare regenerative farm on the banks of the Alqueva reservoir in Alentejo, producing honest, nutrient-dense food without GMOs or chemicals while restoring soil health and local ecosystems. The project combines sustainable agriculture with gastronomy, bespoke events, and immersive farm experiences.

Terramay — meaning 'Mother Earth' — is a 560-hectare regenerative farm located on the banks of the Alqueva reservoir in the Alentejo region of Portugal, with panoramic views stretching into Spanish Extremadura. Founded with a mission to promote soil health, food awareness, and the fight against desertification, Terramay produces food to the highest standards while respecting all elements of nature. The farm is home to Mertolenga cattle, Pata Negra pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, horses, and other animals. It includes biologically-certified vegetable gardens, permanent pastures, and arable land, with the long-term goal of becoming completely self-sufficient. Regenerative practices are at the heart of everything: no GMO seeds, no pesticides or chemicals, and farming methods specifically designed to combat desertification, revitalise soils, and help wildlife adapt to climate change. The team also practises holistic grazing management, Terra Preta production, agroforestry, and beekeeping. Terramay offers a 'Farm to Home' service, delivering freshly prepared, micro-seasonal meals — made with vegetables harvested hours before cooking, grass-fed Mertolenga beef, free-range pork, Alqueva river fish, and homemade pantry goods — directly to customers' doors. The farm also hosts bespoke events such as weddings, corporate retreats, and special celebrations, and offers a rich programme of experiences including horse riding, boat and canoe trips, farm-to-table lunches, regenerative agriculture workshops, natural wine and cocktail tastings, and mindfulness and yoga retreats. Recognised among the Top 50 Farmers of 2025, Terramay invites everyone who visits to reconnect with the land and become part of a community that cares for the landscape, fauna, and flora — sustainably and with purpose.

Our Goal

Terramay aims to regenerate ecosystems, combat desertification, and restore soil health on its 560-hectare Alentejo farm through certified regenerative agriculture — producing nutrient-dense, chemical-free food while working towards complete self-sufficiency.

Our Wishes

Terramay welcomes visitors, customers, and collaborators who share a passion for regenerative food systems, and invites the community to support the project by ordering from the Farm to Home service, attending events, or joining one of its farm experiences.
