Terramay is a 560-hectare regenerative farm on the banks of the Alqueva reservoir in Alentejo. It produces nutrient-dense food without GMOs or chemicals, and works to restore soil health and local ecosystems. Alongside the farming come cooked food, bespoke events and farm experiences.
Terramay is a 560-hectare regenerative farm on the banks of the Alqueva reservoir in the Alentejo region of Portugal, with views stretching into Spanish Extremadura. The name means 'Mother Earth'. It was founded to promote soil health and food awareness and to fight desertification, and it produces food while respecting all elements of nature.
The animals include Mertolenga cattle, Pata Negra pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks and horses, among others. There are biologically certified vegetable gardens, permanent pastures and arable land, and the long-term goal is to become completely self-sufficient. No GMO seeds are used, and no pesticides or chemicals. The farming methods are chosen to combat desertification, revitalise soils and help wildlife adapt to climate change. The team also practises holistic grazing management, Terra Preta production, agroforestry and beekeeping.
The 'Farm to Home' service delivers freshly prepared, micro-seasonal meals to customers' doors: vegetables harvested hours before cooking, grass-fed Mertolenga beef, free-range pork, river fish from the Alqueva and homemade pantry goods. The farm also hosts bespoke events, including weddings, corporate retreats and other celebrations. Its programme of experiences covers horse riding, boat and canoe trips, farm-to-table lunches, regenerative agriculture workshops, natural wine and cocktail tastings, and mindfulness and yoga retreats.
Terramay was recognised among the Top 50 Farmers of 2025.

Terramay wants to regenerate ecosystems, combat desertification and restore soil health across its 560-hectare farm in Alentejo, through certified regenerative agriculture. It produces nutrient-dense, chemical-free food and is working towards complete self-sufficiency.
