EcoPorto - Porto Ambiente

EcoPorto is the circularity centre of the city of Porto, created by Porto Ambiente, the municipal company responsible for urban waste management and public space cleaning in the city. The project was established to encourage reuse over disposal, offering a collaborative platform where citizens can donate items that still have value instead of throwing them away, and where others in need can access these goods free of charge or at low cost. The EcoPorto platform functions as a donation marketplace, listing a wide range of items such as lamps, telephones, televisions, heaters, toasters, curtain rails, blenders, fans and much more. Alongside the online marketplace, EcoPorto offers a home collection service, allowing residents to arrange pick-up of items they wish to donate, with support available by phone and email. Porto Ambiente, the parent municipal company, was established in February 2017 with the mission of managing the municipal urban waste system and public space cleaning according to principles of service quality, innovation, and environmental and economic sustainability, aiming to improve quality of life for residents, workers, students and visitors of Porto. The company aspires to be a national and international reference in its sector, standing out for the excellence of its services and its contribution to environmental protection. Through EcoPorto, Porto Ambiente extends its environmental mission into the realm of the circular economy, tackling waste at the source by facilitating reuse within the local community. The initiative reflects a broader municipal commitment to sustainability, combining practical waste management services with community-oriented environmental action.
